Emmanuel Chukwudalu, Ohaekenyem . He received his BSc. Degree in Pure and Industrial Chemistry (First Class Honours) from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 2011. Graduating with First Class Honours, he received a lecturing position to teach Chemistry in a University after his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2013. His research focuses on synthesis of macrocycles with an eye on new drug development and alternative energy. As a master student, Emmanuel synthesized sets of novel 1, 10 - phenathroline based macrocycles and their complexes; which showed anti-microbial activities against bacteria and fungi and photocatalytic potentials. Being research oriented, he enrolled in a PhD program where he is focused on photoreduction of carbondioxide and cure to different cancer diseases using new complexes of Tetraaza-macrocycles.
As a way to get involve with new trends in research and also contribute to science world, he joined scientific associations such as American Chemical Society (ACS), International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), International Younger Chemist Network (IYCN)/Social Media Team and International Research and Development Institute (IRDI). He has communicated his research findings to science audiences in ACS Nigeria chapter, International Research and Development Institute and Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN). He has showed high level of commitment and diligence in his research have been mentored and coached by several professors within his field. He has won lots of grants and sponsorships such as the United Nations Environment Programme grant to participate in the IUPAC Postgraduate Summer School on Green Chemistry in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, 2019. He recently won the Best poster award during IUPAC Postgraduate Summer School on Green Chemistry held at Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (2019). He is also awarded Tin (Sn) in IUPAC Periodic Table of Younger Chemists.
Emmanuel is a passionate scholar geared towards addressing the health, energy and environmental challenges of the world.Interest Includes: Our research is focused on design and synthesis of Biologically active macrocyclic ligands and metal complexes towards development of anti-tumor drugs and photocatalyts. We study also the ligand-drug, drug-protein binding activities of synthesised compounds. The photocatalysts are focused on water splitting and reduction of carbondioxide to enviromentally friendly fuels.
We also design, synthesis and study the healing properties of some materials.
