Dr George Eleje is a senior Lecturer and Consultant in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with special interest in Preterm birth, Premature rupture of membranes, Evidence based medicine (Cochrane systematic Reviews), and gynaecologic Oncology. He is a fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and International College of Surgeons (FICS). Dr Eleje is currently the Research Co-ordinator at the Effective Care Research Unit, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi Campus, Nigeria. He previously held the role of Deputy Editor, Afrimedic Journal and currently contributing to capacity building in training of over 400 Medical Students and Resident Doctors in Nigeria. He is a Consultant on reproductive health issues for West African Health Organisation (WAHO) on cervical cancer and he had his clinical attachment at IFO San Gallicano, via Elio Chianesi, Roma, Italy during his FIGO 2012 International Fellowship Programme organized by FIGO and the Societa Italiana di Ginecologia e Ostetricia (SIGO) in Rome, Italy, where he had basic training in Gynaecologic Oncology subspecialty. Dr Eleje is also a Fellow of the South African Cochrane Center through a grant received from the Effective Health Care Research Consortium www.evidence4health.org. He is a reviewer to ten international Journals including Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. He is a contact person for four of Cochrane Systematic Reviews and co-author on five others in progress. Dr Eleje pioneered novel Premaquick research for preterm labour prediction. Dr Eleje has attended all FIGO (International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics) conference since 2009 including three African Cochrane indabas, with 3rd through a grant from tdr global. Presently, Dr Eleje is a mentor to an ongoing HIV-related EDCTP grant titled: “Conditional economic incentives and motivational interviewing to improve adolescents' retention in HIV care and adherence to antiretroviral therapy in Southeast Nigeria: a cluster randomised trial”. He has a network of research collaborators in international locations.Interest Includes: Preterm Birth-pioneered Premaquick research for preterm labour prediction globally.
