Dr. Maria Chinecherem Uzonwanne is a Lecturer I in the Department of Economics, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. She obtained her Diploma in Health Science and Italian language in department of Social Science at Pontifical Urban University Rome, Italy and Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, Italy, Diploma in Education at the Salesian University Rome, Italy B.sc, M.sc and PhD degree in Development Economics at Faculty of Social Science, at Pontifical Urban University Rome, Italy. She also obtained another M.sc in Management of Non- governmental organization at the faculty of Social Sciences, at Pontifical University Angelicum, Rome, Italy. In 2020, she also obtained a certificate in Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies. She has worked in many institutions such as; Department of Economics Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka as both an academic staff and coordinator of postgraduate seminar, Tansian University, Umunya in (2016), Managing Director of Madonna Renewal Centre Nkpor-Agu, 2012- till date, Fund Raiser of International Non- Governmental Organization: Aid to the Church in Need, Rome, Italy, 2009-2010, Teacher. Mater Christ Catholic Girls Secondary School, Igede-Ekiti, Ekiti State, 1998-2003 and Account Officer. Mater Christ Catholic Girls Secondary School, Igede-Ekiti, Ekiti. Her teaching and research interest include microeconomics, development economics, Problems and policies of development, Economics of development and planning, monetary economics and qualitative research. She has attended many local and international conferences and has publications both in locally and internationally. She is the chief editor of International Journal of Social Sciences and Education (2018). She is the author of these books: Empowerment Strategy for Catholic School Management and Rediscovering the Essence of NGOs, both published in 2019 and a co-author of the book; A Guide for Research Process and Referencing written in 2020. She is a member of professional bodies such as Nigerian Economic Society, Association for the Advancement of African Women Economist (AAAWE), Nigerian Association for Energy and Environmental Economics (NAEEE), International Association for Female Academic Doctors (IAFAD), Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) and Fellow, Center for Migration, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. She is also a consultant with African Development Institute.
