Ikemefuna Uzochukwu is a Pharmacist and Professor of Medicinal Chemistry, teaching and doing research in Nigeria. He focuses on capacity building especially in the area of drug design for neglected tropical diseases, diabetes mellitus and sickle cell disease etc. He is currently championing the full integration of Supply Chain Management and Pharmaceutical Quality System curricula into Pharmacy undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Nigeria.Interest Includes: Primary research interest in drug design and development for neglected tropical diseases (malaria, ascariasis, schistosomiasis, onchocerciasis, filariasis, ebola virus disease, lassa fever, E coli diarrheagenic disease and some non-communicable diseases (diabetes mellitus and sickle cell disease). I use Computer Aided Drug Design(CADD) tools, bioinformatics, chemoinformatics in de novo drug discovery and drug repurposing. Other research interests include drug quality control, assay development and validation, and supply chain management.
